Sticks & Stones is nestled in a quiet, wooded neighborhood on the outskirts of Bloomington, IL. With 7 beds, 2 new bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, 2 game rooms, and incredible porch seating, this gem is perfect for family gatherings, birthday celebrations, bridal groups, college visits & football games, business traveling, retreats, and more. 9 minutes from RIVIAN and not far from State Farm, Country Companies, ISU, IWU, and more. Comfort, convenience, and fun are just a few clicks away!
The space:
Situated on just under an acre, the cabin offers spacious accommodations for both gathering and sleeping spaces. With the en suite bedroom and separate loft upstairs, two bedrooms on the main floor, additional sleeping in the walk-out basement, and a full bathroom on two levels, there is plenty of room to spread out and breathe. The living room, loft, active gaming room, and video gaming nook provide great spaces for smaller groups to gather, or for breakout sessions on a retreat.
GAMING:
The game rooms are an absolute blast! With an 8-foot slate pool table, ping pong table, foosball, Skee-Ball, darts, and ample seating, there is no shortage of entertainment. There is a 65-inch Samsung QLED in the active gaming room, perfect for catching that Sunday football game on Hulu Live (all typical cable channels including local and HBO). The video gaming room includes an oversized leather sectional, king-sized bean bag chair for 2, and a poker table with up to 8 chairs complete with case of chips & cards. Opposite the sectional is another 65-inch Samsung QLED connected to an Xbox One X with Game Pass.
Need a breath of fresh air? The walkout basement opens to a concrete patio with ample seating and another hanging chair, just steps from an open back yard perfect for throwing bags and playing outdoor games!
BEDROOMS:
Each bedroom is equipped with heavy duty steel bed frames that support up to 750 pounds and extra deep pillow top mattresses. There is over a foot of open storage underneath each bed for suitcases, shoes, and kids playing a game of hide-and-seek. The sofas in the en suite bedroom and loft are Apt2B custom-made pull out sleeper sofas with 5-inch queen memory foam mattresses. All bedrooms have 4K Ultra LED wall-mounted tvs. The master bedroom has a 72-inch ceiling fan, the loft is shares another of the same fan with the living room, and both main floor bedrooms have box fans in the closets for guests who sleep best with a fan on.
The en suite bedroom has a large dresser and massive closet. The other two bedrooms have smaller dressers and built-in storage (drawers and shelves) in the large closets. The loft does not have a closet, but those nesting in the loft may wish to use the built in bookshelves to unpack their suitcases and get comfortable.
SLEEPING:
Between the beds and pull out sofas, the cabin sleeps 14 adults. For guests who don't mind less formal sleeping arrangements, there are a few spots on couches and the mattress folded into the large beanbag.
LAPTOP FRIENDLY:
There are 3 large desks inside the property and fast, reliable internet. One desk is in the en suite, one in the double bedroom on the main floor, and one in the loft upstairs. We worked hard to make the cabin suitable for business travelers as well as families & friend groups, and we hope you find having multiple work spaces helpful!
BATHROOMS:
Both bathrooms have excellent water pressure and are equipped with luxury Delta rainfall shower heads. The fixtures have great range of motion to accommodate tall guests, and the discs rotate to get the perfect drenching angle regardless of height. The complete vertical downpour is an experience in and of itself. The fixtures also have handheld attachments with extra long hoses, helpful for bathing kids and getting that perfectly clean feel after a hair treatment.
Vanities are large and have several drawers for storage. Each vanity contains a full-size hairdryer, toilet plungers, and other items you may need during your stay.
The toilets (new in 2022) are chair height for your comfort and have elongated bowls. There are two buttons - a large one for larger volume and a smaller one for liquids only.
This property processes waste water through a septic tank. Please refrain from flushing anything except the provided toilet paper down the toilets. Even Kleenex, "flushable" wipes, and other paper-based items can cause a backup and create a nightmare situation. There are garbage cans provided in both bathrooms - please use them and make sure that all guests especially children understand how important this is.
PARKING:
The driveway accommodates 6 vehicles. Additional street parking is available, but only on the side of the streets adjacent to our property. Please do not park in front of our neighbors' houses. We can work with you to secure additional parking if needed.
PORCHES/BALCONIES:
Morning coffee and evening wine on these porches is pure bliss. All four porches are staged with plentiful, comfortable furniture, and they are without a doubt the most breathtaking parts of the cabin. The squirrel hut near the tree line is by far the "Easter Egg" of the cabin. If you're lucky, you may get front row seats to a battle royale!
YARD:
The back and side yards are large and perfect for an adult game of bags or the kids playing tag. Much of the yard does have some slope and/or steps to it. Please prioritize your safety. You are also welcome to enjoy the tree swing and use the front yard during the day, but please be extra mindful of volume and language for the neighbors.
FIRE PIT:
Eight (8) Adirondack chairs with slide out cup holders encircle the fire pit. You can recline far back or sit more upright. You may want to consider bringing your own pop up chairs if you have reduced mobility or have trouble getting out of a low to the ground chair. You’ll need to bring your own firewood, but there are several locations that carry it right down the road. Enjoy! It's absolutely beautiful out there.
PROPERTY RESTRICTIONS:
Guests have access to all parts of the home except the garage (which will be locked and does have a security camera) and the small storage area in the back left corner of the basement.
We do not own the footbridge at the back of the property. Please always stay at least 3 feet back from the edge of the property, and do not step on this bridge or into the creek. The bridge is not ours and has not been assessed for safety. It is critical that children especially understand this.
