Tucked away on the edge of the splendid Goodwood Estate, with breath-taking panoramic views across the South Downs National Park, Stoneways is one of our most impressive country escapes.
The original residence comprised of two small cottages belonging to the Estate. History suggests that one of these cottages provided food, water and rest for workers and their horses en route to the neighbouring villages.
It's now a graceful Georgian-style contemporary country home, comfortably sleeping 10 guests, across five beautiful bedrooms. Each bedroom is sensitively decorated in muted tones, creating an air of calm throughout this elegant property.
There are four king/ super king bedrooms, and a twin room. Two of the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, and three share a separate family bathroom. Please note the twin room (a huge semi-circular room) is accessed through one of the other bedrooms, making it the perfect set up for families.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need for your stay, with a charming breakfast area to one side – a lovely spot for little ones, or pre-prandial drinks. Beyond the kitchen, a refined, crescent-shaped dining room ideal for long lazy lunches, and special occasions.
Double doors open into a grand drawing room with comfy sofas, elegant artwork, and a large fireplace to warm your cockles on a cold, wintery night. There's also a beautiful grand piano and plenty of games to keep everyone busy.
Next to the main house, there’s a detached one-bedroom cottage with a separate kitchen, living room, super king bedroom and en suite shower room. If required, the sofa can be made into a king-size bed, increasing the overall capacity across the house and the cottage to 14.
Across the courtyard, a further outbuilding which has been renovated into a superb games room with a pool table, dart board and table tennis. There's also a separate, double bedroom and with en suite shower room, increasing the overall capacity to 16 guests.
Step outside and discover three acres of private land. Set amidst enchanted woodland, with grassy lawns and a delightful nature trail, the grounds are a magical place for children (and grown-ups!) to explore.
Stoneways is the perfect haven for a family celebration, get-together, or peaceful country retreat. It is also available for events, and additional catering and housekeeping can be arranged in discussion with the owner.
