Summary: Firstly the hosts are excellent! Great communication and extremely friendly, you could not have better hosts! The property itself was very clean and had all amenities needed for a week stay! We stayed over New Year for a skiing holiday! The village itself is long and the property is at one end! It is a 2 minute walk to ski hire shop (only one in village from what I could tell). Although we never used the ski bus to the ski lift is also a 2 minute walk! The lift is not a walkable distance. The village is quiet, a few restaurants (need booking in advance) and a couple places for a beer! The only pizzeria is next to the ski lift so not walkable! Cervinia is a much more likely village with loads of places to eat (need to book). We used our car to drive to Cervinia each morning as my youngest son had lessons booked(no spaces in Valtournenche). There is plenty of free parking but need to get there early. The skiing was fantastic, a great area for beginners and intermediates! Wide slopes and we had loads of snow! If you have young children learning to ski then Valtournenche has better facilities! The ski passes are expensive(than was expecting)! I would strongly advise not to buy the international pass to get to Zermatt! Only buy the daily upgrade! During our stay the connection to Switzerland was closed every day due to high winds so we never got to ski on the Matterhorn glazier or into Zermatt which was the only disappointment of the holiday!
