The Metta Gem is a 3-bedroom bungalow designed w/ the guiding principles of Metta: good will, loving-kindness, & a sincere wish of peace for all. Our home is a sanctuary from everyday life, appointed w/ our own luxury Metta Home textiles & amenities we value in our own routines, we want you to love your stay so much you want to bring the Metta home w/ you. Enjoy adventuring in this little mountain city close to natural wonder in all directions, C’Ville's acclaimed dining, UVA & vineyards.
The Space:
The Gem is full of all the amenities you will need to enjoy your stay in Mettā. As soon as you enter you will see our pink wall-- hang your things here and find the parking pass as well.
Walk on in & make yourself right at home. you've walked into our living area and to the right you will see the kitchen. In the living area we have included several office supplies to make WFH easy and convenient. We have a 2 Smart TVs. The first is mounted over the fireplace & visible from the living room, kitchen island, & dining area. The second is downstairs and visible throughout most of that area. Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, Pandora, Etc. are loaded. The kitchen is well equipped not only including a coffee pot, stove, dishwasher, fridge etc. but we also appoint our kitchen with tons of great extras including our special Mettā Blend Coffee - "Stir", roasted in Richmond, VA by Afterglow Coffee Co-Op. Additionally, there is a selection of creamers & sweeteners, a coffee grinder, olive oil & salt & pepper as well as a dishes and cutlery. Down the hall you find two Queen bedrooms and a bathroom. The beds are made with our luxurious bamboo silk Mettā Home brand sheets and these neat little moveable LED bedside lamps. You're sleeping on Metta Home mattresses and pillows too! The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner & shower gel as well as Mettā Home towels, wash cloths and bathmats. All of our Metta Goods products are available to meet you back at your house through our website Metta-Home. com. You will find the bathroom has a hair dryer and first aid kit among other thoughtful touches. Downstairs you will find another bedroom and bathroom as well as another well stocked kitchenette. This room is very private from the rest of the house and can function as a separate suite if you would like. At the foot of the steps you will also find laundry in a shared alcove. Please note the mini splits unit on the walls are operated via a remote control. Remotes should all be left where you found them. These serve as an economical and energy efficient heating and air-conditioning solution. Please enjoy our home as your own and treat it with respect. * NO SMOKING anywhere inside the home. You may smoke outside; be sure you extinguish what you are smoking before leaving unattended. Be sure that all doors, windows and any opening where smoke may enter the house are closed and secured.
* HOUSE PARTIES & EVENTS ARE PROHIBITED
* You agree to act in such a manner as to allow those nearby peaceful enjoyment of their properties.
* We reserve the right to cancel your reservation at any time if you violate this policy.
* Advance notice is required for early check in requests and we'll do our best to accommodate those requests.
* We charge $25 per hour starting at 12 noon and will be requested upon check in.
* Late Check - Out: Check out is on or before 10am. If you would like to extend your check out time, please contact us in advance and we may be able to accommodate your request.
* Unauthorized late check-outs will automatically be charged 30% of the daily rental rate per hour stay past 10am.
* Your unique access door code will only work until the checkout time of 10 am unless other arrangements have been agreed upon.
* We understand that accidents happen, but please let us know if something spilled, stained, or gets broken during your stay.
* Failure to communicate any damages, we will pursue collecting for the damages and charge an additional 20% over and above the replacement costs.
** PETS MUST BE PRE-APPROVED Please send us a message should you want to bring your pet. There is a nonrefundable fee of $35 per pet that we will request upon check in. Long term nonrefundable pet fees are $150 per pet, per reservation.
You know your pet better than we do, please bring the appropriate accommodations for your particular pet. For example, if your pet is a shedder, please bring your own blanket to protect our furniture.
** Please pick up after your pet when walking them in the neighborhood.
** If your pet makes a mess in the house please clean it. Uncleaned pet messes and strong odors will be subject to additional fees.

Summary: I booked and paid for this listing (3-BR 2-bath), but during my one-night stay I had access to only 2 BR and 1 bath. When I arrived and saw the house was only 2 BR and 1 bath, I blamed my memory of the listing—I did not think it was possible whole rooms were missing. In the morning it occurred to me to check the listing, and I realized the missing rooms were behind a locked door in the basement. After contacting the host, I was informed they did not have me down as booking the property because I did not return the rental agreement. I did not see the agreement (maybe it went to an email spam folder?). I understand miscommunications happen. I do not agree that a customer oversight in not returning the rental agreement excuses the host from all responsibility in this situation. To be clear, the host accepted my booking and payment. I received no messages in my VRBO inbox prior to my stay other than to inform me my booking was confirmed. I asked for a partial refund. The host was not willing to work with me--other than to tell me it was my fault (for not returning the agreement and not alerting them of the problem immediately) and not their responsibility at all. The property itself is really nice. The beds were comfy. The house was well stocked and in a great location. Overall, I had a nice stay with friends. My problem is with the property management experience, not the house itself. I have never had a rental experience even close to this one.
