Summary: Stowe Away has the potential to be a wonderful vacation rental, but our experience fell short. The amenities sounded great but didn’t quite deliver. Upon arrival, the garage had debris, unopened twisted tea alcohol drinks were left on the staircase, and the dryer was full of standing water. The pool filter didn’t seem to work, the downstairs bed had no box spring (we slept in a “taco” mattress for four nights), and several outdoor lights and fans weren’t functional. While we still made memories with our group, the house itself was disappointing compared to how it appeared online.Communication with the host was also frustrating. We had to repeatedly ask for check-in details, and handling of fees was disorganized. Our deposit wasn’t refunded until weeks later, after much back and forth, and we were charged unexplained fees multiple times. The pet policy was unclear as well—though we confirmed in advance that pets were welcome, we weren’t informed of an additional fee until after check-in.Overall, we enjoyed our time together because of the company we were with, but the house and host experience left a lot to be desired.
