This property is the perfect blend of privacy and location and offers endless outdoor recreation nearby, all within a short drive to downtown Lake Placid. Cascade Hideaway is located on the High Peaks Scenic Highway (NYS Rt. 73,) winding past the Adirondack's highest peaks and along some of it's most picturesque waters. We are two minutes from some of New York State’s premiere mountain climbing, rock climbing, and ice climbing, as well as the pristine waters of Cascade Lake. We heartily welcome athletes and adventurers of all venues. Our home is a 1/2 mile from the entrance to Mt. Van Hovenburg Sports Complex, which includes the Olympic bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track, 50 kilometers of cross country ski trails, Olympic Biathlon course and mountain biking trails. We are a short 20 minute drive from Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort in Wilmington, New York. For parents visiting students, we are just down the road from The North Country School.
We offer a garage to store your skis, mountain or road bikes, climbing gear, bobsled, or golf clubs. It is a little too small for a car, but we have a large parking area directly in front of the house.
Cascade Hideaway is situated 5 minutes southeast of Lake Placid, putting it in a convenient location to reach The Horse Show, The Lake Placid Airport, The Olympic Training Center, and The Olympic Ski Jump Complex.
The home features multiple outdoor spaces and an acre of private lawns to enjoy. There is a screened porch with birch and twig rocking chairs. The back deck provides alfresco dining and cocktails or just soaking in the summer sun. The lawn features gardens and raspberries, a hammock, and fire pit complete with Adirondack chairs. There is much to be enjoyed just staying at home roasting marshmallows and making smores. (Due to the size of the lawn, our heavy snow in winter, and our muddy Springs, some of our outside amenities are only available in summer and Fall.)
Cascade Hideaway has an exceptional open floor plan with upgraded kitchen and baths, including a master bath with walk-in shower and heated floors. The home has polished hardwood floors throughout, tiled kitchen and bath, and granite counter tops in the kitchen. The kitchen has been appointed to anticipate all of your cooking needs. In the morning, you may choose to brew a pot of coffee or make a single cup with our combination coffee pot. We have a dining room that comfortably seats six. The living room has reclining leather furniture, a Smart TV, Alexa, and games and cards for those rainy or low key days. The home offers air conditioning for those sticky summer nights.
Our master suite offers peekaboo views of the Bobrun at Mt. Van Hovenburg. The master bedroom, (The Bobrun Room) has a queen sized bed with memory gel mattress, as do the other two bedrooms. There is the Cozy Camp bedroom with a queen sized bed. The third bedroom, the Adirondack Bunk Room, has bunk beds that are rated for adult weights of up to 250 pounds on the top bunk, and are low to the ceiling, making them suitable for adults or for your almost adult children. We have tried to anticipate your every need to ensure your comfort while staying with us.
