Positive: I was originally attracted to the property because of the dream of having our own mini castle to live in for a couple of days, plus the hot tub which was on my wish list. This property delivered everything I had hoped for and so much more. I had not realised that it was the Gatehouse to Appleby Castle and the Norman Centre. We had the most amazing view of the castle from the lodge and we spent an amazing romantic day and evening in the castle itself as part of our stay, learning a lot of new historical facts about the Royal Family roots in Appleby and how the Kings and Lords who resided there impacted Westmoreland, it really is an incredible experience. They also hire out the cottages inside the castle grounds which we viewed and are to a very high standard, where we would consider staying next time we visit. We would definitely recommend this to history enthusiasts and people who love being in nature.

Negative: The front door needs to be more secure, the lock is only a single lock and the door still opens slightly when the door is locked.

Summary: Romantically dreamy experience in the snow.
