Positive: This property is a self-catering apartment less than ten minutes walk from the main attractions of Kenruoken Gardens and site of the former Castle, although well over a mile from the railway station. It is one of may be 6 or 8 apartments in the same block in a quiet residential area and I probably would not have found it without seeking advice from the very helpful Tourist Information Centre at Kanazawa Station. The apartment provided everything I needed for a three-night stay as a solo traveller; the bed is a traditional Japanese mattress on the floor of the living room and the kitchen area, although quite small, has an adequate cooker as well as a fridge and a washing machine; the latter was very useful because I was on a 5-week trip around Japan and presented a good opportunity to get my laundry done. Considering the price, it represents amazing value for money
Negative: There was no-one on duty at the office when I arrived, so had to wait about half an hour for someone to bring the key. I don't think the reception is manned all the time, so it might be advisable to ring ahead to let them know your exact arrival time. There are no large supermarkets (only a 7-11 store) in the immediate vicinity, so only limited shopping options for self-catering.
