Anticipation awaits as you wind through 600 acres of the Paul Bunyan State Forest to the tip of the Jewel. There you will find Jewel Lodge on Mantrap Lake...where luxury meets the great outdoors. With 6 nature-themed bedrooms, including 3 king beds, 3 bunk beds, and 2 twin beds, there's plenty of space for all your guests. The 5 bathrooms are equipped with amenities like showers, hair dryers, a bidet, and soaking bathtubs. You'll find everything you need here, from a steam iron to AC, WiFi to a hair dryer. This home just completed a major renovation in July of 2024, and a brand new full size washer and dryer. Kitchen comes equipped with one full size fridge, one full size freezer, one full size wine/beer fridge, ice maker, dishwasher, microwave and an oversized dual fuel 8-burner stove and double oven. Plenty of storage and prep areas including a butler's pantry. Master bedroom is on the main floor, with the remaining bedrooms located on the 2nd level. (The second level includes 2 more exterior doors.) Large living space with floor to ceiling windows to provide beautiful views of the lake. Enjoy campfires at night while listening to the over 20 pairs of loons that call Big Mantrap lake their home (showcased on National Geographic). We are less than 30 minutes from Itasca state park and the headwaters of the Mississippi.

Summary: I don't normally write reviews, but thought it was warranted in this case. We had a family retreat for my mom's 80th birthday at the lodge. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the checkin to the checkout John did a great job of communicating. The lodge has been recently updated which made it feel like we were the first ones to stay there. It rained the entire time we were there, but the cabin was so condusive to socializing and relaxing that we didn't even notice. Can't wait to get back there soon!
