Relax in this bright, light-filled, open floorplan featuring large windows, high ceilings, light hardwood floors and recessed lighting. Entertain friends at the center island while you prepare a satisfying repast in the large and fully stocked kitchen. Watch a movie together on the 44" TV while spread out on the comfy sofa, feet up on the ottoman. When it's time to be productive you'll appreciate the strong WIFI, desk, in-unit washer/dryer and cleaning supplies. The building itself features secure entry with key-fob, keyless entry to unit, gracious lobby, secure package delivery, private mailbox, and only 14 units the others all being long term rentals.
Wonderful location on a tree-lined street in Georgetown's sought-after East Village. This apartment is in a small historic building nestled among the stately old mansions of yesterday's and today's powerful.
Walk to everything you need including the markets, cafes, bistros, farmers market, Metro, shops, dry cleaners, parks, jogging trails, Georgetown University, the Potomac River and historic museum-homes and gardens.
Every Georgetown property has a bit of interesting history. The Kanawah building was constructed in 1901 as an apartment building. The architect, Leon E. Dessez, also designed the current residency for the Vice President of the United States. More recently, shortly after President Kennedy was assassinated, Jackie Kennedy purchased the Newton Baker House which is just behind this building. Jackie would use the back gate on the fence separating the two properties, walk thru the Kanawah care-taker's apartment to exit on Dumbarton St rather than 30th St, thus evading the ever-present paparazzi.
