You'll be staying upstairs at The Shrimp Boat Cottage. Named in honor of Thunderbolt's rich shrimping history, the cottage pays homage to the city as well as the iconic shrimp boat scene from Forrest Gump which was filmed off Georgia's coast.
The Shrimp Boat Cottage has a "below the deck" studio space. Captain's Quarters, which sleeps up to two guests is the downstairs studio to the main cottage. This unit is named "Captain's Quarters" because it symbolizes where the captain of a shrimp boat would live beneath the boat. During your stay, you may encounter up to two guests in passing.
While the two units are separate, they are part of the same cottage, offering a seamless experience for you to enjoy. You can relax and unwind while soaking in the coastal atmosphere from your private balcony, complete with two Adirondack chairs and a couple's dining set. To make your stay even more enjoyable, you'll have complimentary bicycles to explore Thunderbolt and the surrounding areas at your own pace.
For larger groups, book both The Shrimp Boat Cottage and The Captain's Quarters to accommodate up to four guests.

You can enjoy keeping your boat at Thunderbolt Marina and easily stroll to the studio. You can dock your boat at Thunderbolt Marina, which offers slips and docking facilities for various boat sizes. The marina itself does not have a boat ramp directly on its property. The "Desposito's (Thunderbolt) Boat Ramp" is located close by on the Wilmington River, providing a convenient launch point.
For information on trailer accommodations, please contact me, as you cannot store your trailer on the property.
SAVE THE DATE! 2025 Blessing of the Fleet is scheduled for April 11th - 13th ~ a maritime event that honors Thunderbolt, Georgia's fishing and shrimping history. TRIP INSURANCE: Hurricane season is from June 1 through November 30. All guests are encouraged to get travel insurance, as there are no refunds issued. Travel insurance compensates you for trip costs and money you spend due to unforeseen events, such as a hurricane, before and during your trip. This is especially important during hurricane season and to protect you from any unforeseen event. When you book via Airbnb, you may add travel insurance or there are several other brands on the market easily found.

* Only one car is allowed and it must be parked in the driveway of the rental property. Parking in neighboring yards or driveways is prohibited.
