Positive: Really good location. Lovely view of the river from the upstairs sitting room. Characterful cottage. Lovely garden studio with nice views. Comfortable beds.
Negative: The hosts; Finest Retreats were unhelpful. I’d asked in advance if there would be firewood in the house as I could see that the forecast was changeable but was told flatly no, but we could bring our own. Seems a bit strange when there are wood burners in the property. No offer to source some for us even at our expense. We needed to use the heating a little as the weather was chilly and damp but couldn’t find a thermostat or instructions and the agency didn’t sort this out for four days. There was no information folder in the property - what to do with recycling/refuse etc (this should be standard) so we felt a bit unappreciated as paying guests. Finest Retreats should remember that visitors are on holiday and it’s their job to make guests feel welcome and not like housesitters. The house also has clothes moths so we had to thoroughly shake everything out when we got home, which was quite stressful.
Summary: Good location in a lovely place but attention to detail lacking
