This is an eco friendly 500 sq ft tiny home on our 10 acre property co-located with our house in a Juniper tree forest. There is a 0.5 mile walking trail that circles the property available for use and perfect for snowshoeing in the winter. The main level bedroom is enclosed with 2 open loft bedroom spaces and can easily sleep up to six adults. The space is open and airily filled with natural lighting. There is a kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, induction cooktop, and a toaster oven large enough for a frozen pizza. There is a 10' x 8' deck outside the front door and there are up to 3 parking spaces available. The toilet is self composting from Sweden with a venting system that makes it odor free. The home is also powered by solar. Waste water is grey water so we use only biodegradable soaps and shampoos. If you have wanted to try out an eco friendly space this is the perfect place for you.
Recreational activities abound in this area. We are surrounded by awesome hikes and mountain views. Purgatory Resort has downhill skiing and is just a 45 min drive. Purgatory has fun bike trails and an alpine slide in the summer. Located just down the street from Purgatory is the Nordic Center with lots of cross country ski trails and snowshoeing. Vallecito Reservoir is a 40 minute drive and offers cross country skiing and snowshoeing in winter as well as lake activities in summer. Lake Nighthorse is just 15 minutes away and offers lots of lake fun including a blowup obstacle course (Wibit). Mountain biking and hiking trails are located all over Durango within 10-20 minute drives. River rafting and Gold Medal fishing are available on the Animas River in town. Additionally, Pastorius Reservoir is less than 2 miles away easily reached by car or bicycle. We are located just 10 minutes from Walmart making it easy to pick up groceries and last minute necessities.
