Originally believed to have been a refuge and overnight halt for cattlemen bringing their herds off the moor on their way to market, Ivy Cottage lies between Packsaddle bridge over the Wrey Brook and Drakeford Bridge over the River Bovey. Ivy Cottage is built of stone and cob and has been considerably upgraded over the years! In the main living room we installed a wood-burning stove a few years ago. This is a great success, warms up very quickly and gives off a terrific heat. Other heating is by newly-installed wall-mounted electric radiators. The well-tended quiet garden is a real suntrap. The cottage is just outside Lustleigh village (with pub!), a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk. Dartmoor is readily accessible, either walking, or by car to Widecombe and Princeton. The sea is about half an hour away. There are so many different places to go!
