The Space:
Located right in the heart of Hamilton’s most desirable neighbourhood, this historic home is a whole vibe that’ll leave you saying, “you had me at hello.”
The James is one of 2 units in this fully restored and adored home that has the perfect blend of furnishings curated from the 70s and 80s with a minimalist aesthetic that instantly makes you feel lighter.
The Living Spaces
With bright white walls reflecting the sunlight that beams through its large windows, everything in this room, from a light green sofa to a cheerful pink armchair and 80’s neon sign, lends itself to relaxation and having a good time. For your viewing pleasure, we’ve added a flat-screen TV with streaming services directly across from the sleeper sofa, but…..if you’re looking for a more unplugged experience, the built-ins are stocked with some of our favourite board games. And if you feel so inclined, we think it might do you some good to take a cue from the sign and spend a little time dancing with yourself. It might sound silly, but even Healthline says it does a body good by increasing your self-confidence, coordination and putting a smile on your face. We’d love to see some of your photos of your solo dance sessions, so don’t forget to tag us on Instagram if you do.
****Just one thing, don’t forget there are neighbours in the other unit, so make sure to shut it down after hours and try to be light on your feet.
Sleeping Accommodations
With room for four adults (3 comfortably), it’s no wonder this loft has become a favourite space for a girls' getaway or a romantic escape from the routine and hum of Toronto. Although we’re situated in a walkable neighbourhood (close to all the coolest hot spots in Hamilton), these accommodations are so comfortable it can be hard to leave and explore the city once you’ve settled in…..we take full responsibility for that.

The master bedroom has been outfitted with a high-quality Casper mattress, known for keeping you cool at night. We’ve also provided high-quality linens and towels and installed independent climate controls for both the bedroom and living room where the sleeper sofa is, so the temperature will always be set to your preference for optimal sleeping conditions.

Outdoor Space
The grounds around the home are immaculate, with particular attention paid to our decorative shrubs and urban landscaping. On the side of the house, you’ll also find our iconic mural painted in a striking combination of pastel colours with the phrase “wish you were here,” This is the perfect backdrop for insta-photos, engagement photos or as part of a branding photo session.

#3 Choice of bars and pubs: Finding your favourite watering hole while you’re here won’t be a problem. If you’re down for some craft beer, Merit Brewing Company is one of Hamilton’s best breweries with great local craft beers and snacks and is a great place to chat with locals.
#4 The Waterfront - Bayfront Park: Take some time for yourself and get some fresh air along the waterfront, only a short walk from The James. Here you can enjoy the waterfront trails and watch as the boats drift by.
#5 It’s close to event venues: If you’re in town for a concert, wedding or event, we are located within a short distance of all the major event venues like Bridgeworks, The Spice Factory, Liuna Station, The Convention Centre and First Ontario Centre.
Our area is safe and very walkable. In the summer, you may even want to bring your bike for touring the city and local parks.
Getting Around:
We recommend a car for getting here or opting to take the GO Train. Once you’re here, you can easily rely on your feet to explore or take advantage of the public transit.
When staying at The James, you’ll be within walking distance to West Harbour Go Station, which will take you directly into Toronto if needed. You’ll also be able to walk to a wide range of local cafes and restaurants.
Uber and Lyft also have a significant presence in the city.

For your peace of mind, the property is equipped with exterior cameras, noise monitors, and signal detection to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our property for all our guests.
Bedding will automatically be made available for the sleeper sofa on all reservations with 3+ guests. Please be sure to notify us if your reservation is for two guests and you require additional bedding.
The James accommodates a maximum of 4 guests (3 comfortably), including children (please note the suite is not childproof).
The James is one of our units inside our property. It is a unique 150-year-old historic home, and with all its charm and age may come some quirks, creaks, and noise transfer between suites. Please be mindful of the guests in the other units and respectful of the space so that everyone can thoroughly enjoy their stay.
No unapproved guests or parties. This is a zero-tolerance policy; if broken, you will be asked to leave.
