The Neighborhood:
Shaw neighborhood is home to the beautiful Missouri Botanical Gardens, Tower Grove Park, and Forest Park. Forest Park alone has miles of tree-lined paths, playgrounds, fountains, as well as other exciting points of interest. Tons of restaurants can be found on Grand Ave, and many more Italian restaurants on "The Hill" nearby. You’re near major freeways so scheduling a visit to a Cardinals game is a breeze. You can also visit the Arch, stop by beautiful Soulard, or tour the Anheuser-Busch brewery.
The Shaw neighborhood is a mix of stately, turn-of-the-last-century homes and well-maintained apartments in classic brick. You'll find university and medical students living alongside professionals, many young families, and long-term residents. It's diverse and friendly. Residents are quiet and respectful. You'll mostly want to drive or Uber/Lyft to get around as the street is residential for several city blocks.
Getting Around:
The best way to get around is by car with most highways conveniently nearby. You can also use the Metrolink light rail system to get to many major attractions. Metro's efficient light rail system offers stops throughout the city.
St. Louis also has both UBER and Lyft available. You'll also see lots of Lime and Bird electric scooters throughout the city, so you can zoom wherever you'd like!

Summary: We traveled with extended family for a long weekend. The location of this property will get you anywhere you need to go very quickly. The Botanical Garden is one block away and we walked to it twice during our stay. There is also a donut shop on the corner you can walk to. It took 7 minutes to drive to Busch Stadium, 4 to the Hill, 9 to the museums and zoo at Forest Park. We liked that the property gave us space from each other with an upstairs and downstairs apartment, and yet we were still together at the same time. If traveling with anyone older or with mobility needs, please be aware that there are several sets of stairs even to get into the first apartment. We had to assist our mother outside as there are not handrails. As is the case with most homes this old, it is not airtight. That means you will find some bugs and even mice. Mouse baits were plentiful in the apartments but we only saw one mouse during our 3 days. We kept all our food put away in a fridge or coolers just in case. We also had a very big storm one night and had a leaky window in one room -Just things to be aware of. The property is next to a main road so you will have street noise and sirens go by. Box fans are provided on the property and helped create some white noise while sleeping. Parking is on the street but we always found spaces for 2 vehicles. The second floor apartment has trouble cooling off during hot summer days but always cooled down at night. The neighborhood was safe
